Coronavirus: Boris Johnson announces all UK schools will close from Friday
ALL schools in England will close from Friday amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government has announced.
But Prime Minister Boris Johnson, speaking in his daily press conference, said that children of key workers such as police and those working in the NHS will still attend classes.
He said: ‘We think now that we must apply further downward pressure with that upward curve by closing the schools.
‘After schools shut their gates to most pupils and they will remain closed to the majority of pupils.’

It comes after Scotland and Wales said schools would close from the same day.
It comes as UK deaths reached 104 after the NHS said a further 32 people had died in England.
The prime minister added: ‘The objective is to slow the spread of the virus and we need schools to make provisions for key workers.’
Education secretary Gavin Williamson said: ‘I know the situation has become increasingly challenging.
‘I've said before that if the science and the advice changed, such that keeping schools open would no longer be in the best interest of children and teachers, that we would act - we are now at that stage.
‘The spike of the virus is increasing at a faster pace than anticipated and it is crucial that we continue to consider the right measures to arrest this increase and to relieve the pressure on the health system.
‘The public health benefits of schools remaining open as normal are shifting.
"It is also clear that schools are increasingly finding it more difficult to continue as normal as illness and self-isolation impacts on staffing levels and pupil attendance.’
