91 per cent of Hampshire families get place at first choice school
HAMPSHIRE County Council have announced that 98 per cent of primary school parents have been offered places for their children at one of their top three choices.
The figures are based on 22,500 applications for September school places for children starting infant and junior schools.
Just under 91 per cent (90.96) were allocated a place at their first choice school.
Councillor Roz Chadd, executive member for education and skills, said: ‘This is very good news and reflects how school place planning is essential in ensuring that there is a school place for every child in Hampshire.

‘While schools are currently closed to all but the children of key workers or vulnerable children, due to the current response to Coronavirus , I’m optimistic that by September we will have returned to our normal day to day lives and children will be able to begin their time at school in the usual way.’
Parents who did not secure their preferred choices have the right to appeal.
