King’s Academy Lord Wilson bursting with pride after being named SEMH school in the country following major international trip
Teachers are bursting with pride at an academy after being named number one SEMH school following successful trip abroad.
King’s Academy Lord Wilson, a specialist school for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, has celebrated its first success international trip, taking students to Geneva and the Swiss Alps.
Made possible through the Turing Scheme, which was secured by personal development lead Rebecca Lawley, the trip saw students go snowshoeing in Les Gets and visit a chocolate-making workshop.

On top of the trip’s success, King’s Academy Lord Wilson, in Sarisbury Green, was also confirmed as the number one SEMH school in the country for academic results within the attainment 5 measure.
Emily Weaver, Head of School, said: "In the SEMH sector, trips of this scale are incredibly rare. Our staff and partners like Laura Saxon are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible, and every single time, our pupils rise to the challenge.
“Seeing our students stand in the Alps or tour CERN is a testament to their resilience. The boys are incredibly proud of themselves, and rightly so. All of this hard work culminated in what the pupils simply described as the best days of their lives."
