Teach Portsmouth Awards launch postponed due to ongoing challenges of Covid

THE city council has taken the decision to postpone the launch of this year’s Teach Portsmouth Awards due to ongoing challenges being faced by schools.

Cabinet member for education, Cllr Suzy Horton, said: ‘In some ways the awards are needed more than ever, but we have made the decision to postpone nominations.

‘We felt that at the beginning of term, schools have enough to deal with in implementing the new Covid guidelines.

‘The awards will go ahead but we want to give schools more time to submit nominations at what is a pressurised time.’

While no date has been set for the relaunch the Council have confirmed, the actual awards ceremony is still scheduled to go ahead on March 12, 2021.

The annual awards night was originally due to take place this month but also had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
