A-levels 2026: Straight A student eagerly awaits Cambridge reconsideration decision
Straight A student celebrates
Despite getting straight A’s, a student is nervously waiting to hear if he managed to get a place at Cambridge.

City of Portsmouth College, Harris Haque, has been accepted into London School of Economics and Political Science to study economics after receiving an A* in maths, an A* in further maths and an A in economics in his A-levels.
But, he is waiting to find out whether he has also been given a place at Cambridge after being put on the reconsideration list.

Harris said: “Cambridge is so beautiful and unique so I would have to accept the offer if I got in. A lot of people don’t often get into these schools so it was hard to find my way with how to do everything but I found people who supported me and I’d love to do the same for other people in Portsmouth.
“I want to do something in trading so maybe hedge funds or investing. Over the last few years, I’ve discovered finance and I think everyone loves the money in it.”
Claire, Harris’s mum, said: “I am really proud. To be honest he has come from a really inclusive school and they made him know he could do it if he wanted to and he absolutely deserves this.”
Harris will find out if he was successful in getting into Cambridge on August 14.
