Scheme sees students teach younger Portsmouth children to dance

HUNDREDS of pupils learnt to dance as part of new scheme using secondary school students as teachers.

Students at Bohunt Priory – the new name for Priory School in Southsea – led a dance project which saw them use their talents to become choreographers for children in Portsmouth.

The event was part of the Dance Leaders scheme run by Hampshire Schools Games who are based at Bohunt Priory. The scheme has helped train 30 students from Years 8 and 9 to become dance leaders.

Stewart Vaughan, headteacher, said: ‘We are very proud of the students who have been involved in this wonderful initiative.

‘We are delighted to offer these opportunities for our students and to younger pupils at schools across the community. The students have given up hours of their own time, during evenings and holidays, to train as dance leaders ahead of the event.’
