Following a shake up with Ofsted, The Telegraph has established a primary school league table with five different ratings: Very good, good, fair, below average and well below average.
Primary schools are ranked according to nine separate criteria, which add up to a maximum score of 40.
Using data for the 2023-24 academic year, the points are awarded as follows:
- Score in Key Stage 2 grammar, punctuation and spelling tests (5 points)
- Score in Key Stage 2 maths (5 points)
- Score in Key Stage 2 reading tests (5 points)
- Comparison with local authority average (3 points)
- Proportion meeting expectations (5 points)
- Proportion of disadvantaged pupils meeting expectations (5 points)
- Oversubscribed schools (3 points)
- Class size (4 points)
- Truancy (4 points)
