As well as singing festive songs, the students pulled crackers with the patients and handed out mince pies.

Year 11 student Francesca McBride said: ‘It was amazing to perform for the dialysis patients.

‘It’s good to bring festive spirit to people who have to spend time in the hospital.

‘We’ve been learning about dialysis in biology so we understand what they are going through on a regular basis.

‘It was just nice to sing the songs and feel the Christmas spirit.’

The patients enjoyed a range of tunes from We Wish You a Merry Christmas to Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas.

Michael Mallon, from Paulsgrove, said he enjoyed all the songs.

The 46-year-old added: ‘It was very good to have the singing as it can get boring in here.

‘It was a good idea by the hospital to organise it.’

Lynn Sandford, staff nurse at QA, said: ‘We haven’t had a choir come and sing for a couple of years so it was lovely for our regular dialysis patients to get this treat.’
