Last year, Ofsted scrapped its previous framework so schools are now provided with grades for six key areas.
Previously education settings would recieve a rating of outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate, but inspectors are now using a five-point, color-coded report card system, where multiple areas are assessed including inclusion, attendance, curriculum, behaviour, leadership and wellbeing.
The new system will grade each area exceptional, strong standard, expected standard, needs attention or urgent improvement.
As we near the end of 2026, The News has taken a look at the ratings for secondary schools in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas that have been published this year.
