New library opens at infant school

The reading space, which was previously used as a classroom, was transformed over the summer holidays by school librarian, Estelle Deuble, and the service children liaison Officer, Clare McErlean.

New furnishings, funded by the school's supportive PTA enabled the pair to create a library where children can develop their early reading skills, learn more about the wider curriculum and enjoy access to a range of books.

Gill Bryant, headteacher of Denmead Infant School, said: "The whole school is buzzing. Learning to read enables children to access their whole education. I am so thankful to the whole school community for the part they have each played in creating such a special space - Let's get reading."
