Here's how to borrow books from Portsmouth libraries amid the pandemic
BOOKWORMS in Portsmouth can still enjoy reading amid the pandemic with a new library delivery service.
Volunteers from the Hive are working with Portsmouth City Council’s libraries to bring books directly to resident’s homes as part of a new scheme.

Councillor Steve Pitt, deputy leader of Portsmouth City Council said: ‘As our libraries are still closed to the public because of coronavirus, we have worked with Hive Portsmouth to launch a new delivery service to bring some of the great things libraries offer directly to people's homes.
‘Our libraries have a wide range of books and other items including audiobooks, games, and DVDs, which volunteer teams from the Hive can deliver to your door.
‘The service is completely free, and Portsmouth libraries do not have fines so there are no costs at all to worry about.’
The library service is following Public Health England guidelines on sanitisation, and has social distancing measures in place to ensure the safety of the volunteers and library staff.
To arrange a delivery call the Hive helpline on 023 9261 6709 from 9am to 5pm during the week. When you have finished with your books you will be able to arrange for a volunteer to swap them for new ones.
