GCSE Results: Continued improvement at Havant Academy visible with latest exam results

GCSE results mark secondary school’s continued improvement

Ambition is propelling a secondary school forward as it celebrates the achievements of its year 11 students following the release of GCSE results.

Staff at Havant Academy are bursting with pride as the exam results from this year’s cohort symbolise a step forward in the academy’s ongoing improvement.

Vicki Dillon-Thiselton, headteacher at Havant Academy, said: “I am incredibly proud of our Year 11 students. These results represent years of hard work, determination and resilience, and it has been wonderful to see our students able to celebrate what they have achieved today.

“We are also really pleased to see the academy continuing to move forward. Our attainment has improved for three consecutive years, outcomes in English and maths are strengthening, and the gap between our disadvantaged students and their peers nationally is narrowing.”

The results reflect the hard work and commitment of students and staff, with stronger outcomes recorded in both English and mathematics. The academy has also seen progress in its overall attainment and progress measures, continuing the positive momentum established over recent years.

One of the most notable developments is the academy’s attainment 8 score, which has risen for the third consecutive year. This latest improvement builds on the strong progress made last summer and reinforces the upward trajectory highlighted through recent Ofsted monitoring.

The results represent the impact of the academy’s continued focus on strengthening teaching and learning, raising aspirations and maintaining high expectations for all students, with a clear commitment to ensuring every young person is supported to achieve their potential.

Vicki added: “This is a whole-school achievement. I would like to thank our staff for their relentless commitment to our students, our families for the support they have given throughout the year and, most importantly, our students themselves. We know there is still more to do, but we are ambitious for Havant Academy and these results give us real confidence as we begin the next stage of our improvement journey.”

Russell Hobby, CEO of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT), continued: “Havant Academy’s results demonstrate the steady and sustained progress being made by the school. Improving attainment over three consecutive years, alongside stronger outcomes for disadvantaged students, reflects the dedication and determination of the whole academy community.

“Students and staff should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. Havant is moving in the right direction and is well placed to build on this progress in the year ahead.”
