To win a Tidy Schools Award schools have to keep their grounds clean and tidy and run environmental initiatives both of which involve students. Schools were also asked to run a recycling project for the Recycling Superstars competition.

One of the judges, environment boss Cllr Dave Ashmore, said: ‘Congratulations to all the winning schools and runners up. I was delighted to see so many entries and interesting projects involving pupils to keep schools clean and to encourage recycling.’

Winners of the Tidy Schools awards were: Wimborne Infant School, Arundel Court Primary School, Meon Infant School, Langstone Junior School, St Jude's CoE Primary School, Cosham Harbour School and Portsmouth Grammar School. Meon Junior School won the Recycling Superstars competition.
