Slimming World success: Sean and Karen’s incredible journey
When Karen discovered she needed a hip operation, she knew something had to change. Reducing her weight and BMI was vital to improve her mobility and protect her long-term health. Husband Sean decided to join her – knowing that losing weight would bring huge health benefits for him too.
Fast forward just 29 weeks, and together they’ve achieved something truly remarkable, Sean has lost 4 stone 9 lbs, and Karen has lost 4 stone 3 lbs.
For Karen, the journey has been life-changing. She admits she still experiences pain and discomfort in her hip, but her mobility has improved dramatically – and she often reflects on the unimaginable extra strain another 4 stone of weight would have put on her joints.
With the expert guidance of their award-winning consultant Sam Jones, who inspires with honesty and a direct approach, they understood the powerful impact of weight loss: losing just 1 lb takes 4 lbs of pressure off the knees and 6 lbs off the hips. This knowledge kept them motivated every step of the way.
Today, Sean and Karen are happier, healthier, more confident – and recently looked absolutely amazing at their son’s wedding, glowing with pride at how far they’ve come.

Sean and Karen attend Sam’s Slimming World group on Saturday morning at St Nicholas Church, Bedhampton at 9am but there is an earlier session at 7.30am and a later one at 10.30am. Sam also runs a Thursday evening group at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church, Leigh Park at 4pm, 5.30pm and 7pm.
