Rising star recognition for college King’s Trust champs
Family and friends are keeping everything crossed for City of Portsmouth College King’s Trust superstars Luca Parker-Mutton and Cameron Belson.
The pair joined around 80 other guests at the John Hansard Gallery in Southampton after being nominated as Rising Stars.
They are now eagerly waiting to hear whether they’ve got through to the 2025 National Awards, with the chance to meet King Charles and a whole host of celebrities.
Both of them took part in one of the King's Trust (formerly known as the Prince's Trust) 12-week programmes at City of Portsmouth College last April.
Luca, 25, went on to become a full-time IT support engineer, while Cameron, 24, became a night porter and then duty manager for a hotel.
“I’m really grateful for being given the opportunity to be part of this programme,” said Luca. “It’s helped to build my confidence and gain new skills for the work environment.”
Added Cameron: “Before this I was lost on what I wanted to do. I’ve got so much more confidence now. Just two words ‘do it’.”
Luca and Cameron are seen with COPC King’s Trust Team Leader Amy Walledge.
