The project took place at Bedhampton Court, located at Hulbert Road, and was led by team member John. Residents were invited to take part in decorating the main communal area by adding ivy to the pillars that welcome people into the home’s shared space.
Residents were involved in the decision-making process throughout and expressed pride in seeing their ideas brought to life. The activity focused on inclusion and ensuring residents feel a sense of ownership over their surroundings.
As a final touch, each resident’s name will be hand-painted beneath their individual forever print and sealed, making the artwork a permanent feature within the home.
Team member Jade said: “It was so lovely to see everyone getting involved. The residents had brilliant ideas, and you could really feel the pride and happiness as the space started to come together.”
Resident Christine added: “It makes such a difference knowing we’ve helped create something beautiful here. We all did it together, and it truly feels like our home.”
Bedhampton Court is a care home in the heart of Havant, set amidst landscaped gardens and offering residential, nursing, dementia, respite and palliative care. The home has 47 bedrooms arranged over two floors, all of which can be personalised to create a genuine home-from-home environment. A range of communal spaces, including lounges, a large conservatory and easy access to courtyard gardens and lawns, support socialising, relaxation and activities.
The home is part of Healthcare Homes, a care provider operating across the South and East of England. At Healthcare Homes, dedication to exceptional care is at the heart of everything they do. The organisation employs more than 4,000 caring and professional staff across 48 care homes, nine homecare branches, live-in care services and specialist services.
Healthcare Homes’ staff are committed to supporting residents with the same respect, compassion and understanding they would offer their own families. The provider also recognises that finding the right care can feel daunting and aims to offer guidance, reassurance and support to families whenever it is needed.
