'It’s nice to be kind': Five-year-old raises hundreds to buy Christmas presents for children at QA hospital
She has raised the money by making charms with her mum
A five-year-old girl has raised hundreds of pounds to help buy presents for children who will have to spend their Christmas in QA hospital.
Quinn and her family have always donated old toys to the hospital at Christmas time, but this year she told her mum, Ellis Bryant, that she wanted to give them new toys.
“I wanted to buy presents for the poorly Children for Christmas because Santa doesn’t know where they are,” said Quinn. “New toys would be nicer than old or broken ones.”
She decided, with the help of her mum, to start selling personalised beaded charms to help raise the funds to buy gifts for patients on the paediatric wards at Queen Alexander hospital in Portsmouth.

“It’s very fun to make the charms,” said Quinn. Her mum, Ellis, said: “it’s a nice activity to do together”.
By selling their charms, the pair have now raised over £360, and will buy and wrap presents for children of all age groups to take to the hospital.
“We are going to do different ages, like little baby toys and spa sets for older children,” said Quinn. Once all the presents have been bought, she wants to deliver them to the hospital dressed as an elf, with her mum and dad in tow dressed as Santa and Mrs Claus.
She will also buy treats for the adults who will be spending the festive period on the paediatrics ward, including setting up a hot chocolate station for the nurses and doctors who care for the children.
Quinn said she is “excited” to give out the presents, and said “it’s nice to be kind”.
