Portsmouth Hospitals Charity champions

Jeremy and Martin Holmes and their family have been huge supporters of Portsmouth Hospitals Charity since 1987, raising more than £43,000.
Jeremy said: “My family and friends have been involved with Portsmouth Hospitals Charity and a number of wonderful appeals since 1987. We got involved because we heard about the fundraising work of Mick Lyons and his QA Body Scanner Appeal. We were inspired by his dedication and enthusiasm and wanted to help make a difference.”
He continued: “These major appeals for preventative health care/treatments using new technology were fantastic at helping relieve pain especially for cancer treatment. He always said whatever we raised would be good. The new charity has also been welcoming and friendly. We wanted to support the Cancer Services Fund to help patients and bring a smile."
Jeremy and his family started fundraising at the Petersfield Christmas Mayor's Market for the QA Body Scanner Appeal in December 1987, raising £60. In 1988, they established their own markets and have donated virtually every year since, raising a fantastic £3,075 last year at their Easter and Christmas events.
Fundraising and Marketing Manager Sally Hillyear said: “The support from Jeremy and Martin over the years has been fantastic and their Easter and Christmas markets have become firm favourites in the event calendar in Petersfield; we are grateful to all the stall holders and visitors who support them every year and helped them raise such a fantastic amount of money. Please support their Easter event in April.”
Very sadly, Martin passed away from cancer on Saturday and we’d like to offer our sincere condolences to Jeremy and his family at this very difficult time.
