Portsmouth driver raises more than £1,050 through 12-hour darts marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support

Local driver Sarah Page has successfully raised over £1,050 for Macmillan Cancer Support after taking on a gruelling 12-hour darts marathon alongside her team.

Sarah, who has been driving professionally for just over a year, was inspired to organise the event after cancer deeply affected her family and loved ones.

“My partner’s mum passed away due to cancer, and so did her brother-in-law’s mum. Other people I care about have also been affected. I knew this was something I could do to raise vital funds, so I reached out to my partner’s brother-in-law and we got the ball rolling,” Sarah explained.

The marathon took place on Saturday, 27 September at the RAFA Club in Gosport, where Sarah and her team played continuously from 9am to 9pm. Supporters were invited to take on the players for a small donation, helping boost the fundraising total far beyond the original £500 target.

Reflecting on the achievement, Sarah said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who supported us. Raising more than £1,000 is something we never imagined at the start, and we’re so proud this money will go to Macmillan to help families like ours.”

Macmillan Cancer Support provides vital care and assistance to people living with cancer and their loved ones. Fundraising efforts like Sarah’s ensure that the charity can continue its essential work across the UK.
