Orchestral concert raises £380 for Portsmouth literacy charity

Portsmouth ReadEasy will be putting £380 raised by the Portsmouth Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert in December to good use supporting adult literacy projects in the city.

The orchestra recently handed over the money, the proceeds of the event which featured music by Tchaikovsky, Bizet and Grieg among others.

Susie Quinlan, Team Leader at Portsmouth ReadEasy said: “A huge thank you from all of us here for the fabulous donation of £380 raised at your December concert. It is very much appreciated.

“The money will be used to directly support adults learning to read in Portsmouth and the surrounding area through the training of our volunteer reading coaches and the purchasing of reading manuals and books to support our readers in their learning.”
