New Year, new home, new adventures for Gosport children

Due to demand from children and young people who want to get outdoors and take part in adventure the 4th Gosport Scout Group have started 2026 by moving into their new home in Fort Brockhurst, Gunners Way, one of the Palmerston Follies built in the 1860s.
Their Squirrels (4–6-year-olds), Beavers (6–8-year-olds), Cubs (8–10-year-olds) and Scouts (10–14-year-olds) are meeting on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month for double length sessions when the children will have fun, make friends, build confidence and gain skills that will prepare them for life and work.
They held a special welcome event on Saturday 24th January with families and new members joining in the activities including a pioneering catapult, morse code bracelets, making bird feeders, and a scavenger hunt that gave everyone the opportunity to explore the vastness of their new home.
Hannah, Cub Scout aged 9 said: "I love the new place and all the space, it feels like an adventure!"

Amelia, Scout aged 11 said: "The new venue is spectacular and full of history. Plenty of space to explore and I love the changing landscape"
Scouts, bring people together and build stronger communities, but most of all, they help young people see that anything’s possible. They offer more than two hundred activities, from outdoor adventures and creative arts to community projects and technical challenges. Whether it’s hiking, building robots, or launching a social action project, Scouts provides a safe, supportive place to grow.
Sammie, aunt of a Beaver said: "Wow! What an incredible space! 4th Gosport Scouts have moved into their fantastic new home at Fort Brockhurst, and honestly, it’s absolutely brilliant! Even more amazing are the volunteers, they are truly brilliant, so warm, welcoming, and friendly, and they make such a huge difference to the children at every meeting’’
The open day was a great success with 14 new children registering to join the fun planned for the year ahead.
