McDonald's volunteers from local restaurants clean up Swaythling Neighbourhood Centre
The team from four local McDonald’s restaurants have taken part in a clean-up event at Swaythling Neighbourhood Centre, in Southampton. The nine volunteers took along a jet washer to clean moss-covered pathways, making them safer for those using the facilities to walk on.
The team also cleaned up a huge number of leaves, removed brambles and weeded the garden borders to ensure members of the community are able to use and enjoy the communal areas.
Swaythling Neighbourhood Centre is a community hub that benefits the whole of Southampton. It houses a toy library, provides rooms for local people to rent out for numerous events and hosts parities for local families.
Tony Bennett, McDonald’s Franchisee who owns and operates the restaurants that took part, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our fantastic team for giving their time to their local community.

"Swaythling Neighbourhood Centre does fantastic work and offers those in Southampton an opportunity to use its space for a number of different projects and classes.
"We wanted to show our thanks to those running the centre by cleaning up the outdoor area so more people can enjoy it and use it safely. Well done again to everyone who took part on the day!”
Councillor Lorna Fielker, said: “I’m really grateful to the McDonald’s Crew Members who gave their time to help clear the garden at the Neighbourhood Centre. This follows other work done with them in our local community to improve the area, which has included litter picks along Burgess Road and at Swaythling Station and giving the garden at Kelly House in Mansbridge a makeover. I
"t’s great to see Tony Bennet and his McDonald’s restaurant team playing a positive role in the local community.”
