Jill Stevens – A story of determination, support and life-changing success

When Jill Stevens walked through the doors of Sam Jones’ Slimming World group at St Nicholas Church Hall in Bedhampton on Saturday morning, May 11, 2024, she carried more than just the hope of losing weight. She carried years of frustration, self-doubt and the feeling that she had tried everything. What she didn’t yet realise was that she was also carrying the strength, determination and resilience needed to completely transform her life.

Fast-forward to November 1, 2025, and Jill stands proudly as a target member, having lost more than three stone and reaching her dream weight—just in time to jet off on a well-deserved luxury holiday to the Maldives. But as Jill herself will tell you, this incredible milestone was anything but easy.

There were weeks when the scales didn’t reflect her hard work. Weeks where she followed Slimming World’s healthy eating plan to the letter—only to feel defeated by the numbers staring back at her. In those moments, frustration could easily have taken over. But Jill had a consultant who refused to let that happen.

Sam Jones, known by her members for her warmth, humour and unwavering belief in every person who walks into her group, introduced Jill to one of her favourite philosophies:

“Be fascinated, not frustrated.” Instead of giving up, Sam encouraged Jill to get curious, to explore what else could be going on, and—above all—to keep showing up for herself.

And show up she did.

Sam has watched Jill’s confidence flourish week by week. Even though Jill’s husband didn’t attend group, he became a huge part of her journey—cooking alongside her at home, supporting her choices and, in the process, losing almost three stone himself.

Together, they transformed not just their diets, but their lifestyle. Now, Jill happily goes to the gym, and the couple even welcomed a dog into their family—giving them another reason to enjoy the fresh air and stay active with regular walks.

One of the biggest turning points came at the height of Jill’s frustration. Feeling stuck and unsure what to do next, she reached out to Sam. They had already tried every usual motivational tool, so Sam suggested the next step: a personalised food plan. Jill agreed instantly, and what followed was a two-hour meeting outside of group where Sam and Jill worked together, step by step, to build a plan perfectly suited to Jill’s needs. It was here—Jill says—that everything finally clicked. That tailored support became the key that unlocked her progress.

Today, Jill speaks with deep gratitude for Sam, calling her “an amazing, inspiring woman and consultant who helped change my mindset.” Jill’s pride is unmistakable as she celebrates reaching her target weight—a moment she once doubted would ever come. But she’s equally proud of her new outlook on life. And she’s not stopping here. Jill plans to stay at target for life, which means she’ll continue attending group every week, keeping herself accountable and staying connected to the community that helped her achieve so much.

Jill Stevens’ story is a reminder that weight loss isn’t just about food—it’s about mindset, belief, support and perseverance. It’s about showing up on the hard weeks just as much as the good ones. It’s about finding strength you didn’t know you had.

And Jill has done exactly that.

Here’s to Jill—her journey, her determination, her transformation—and the many adventures that await her… starting with the Maldives.
