An interior design student at Solent University in Southampton has been awarded a prize for her final year major project by local homebuilder Vistry Group.

The company presented the Linden Homes Award to Isabelle Bull, from Chichester who is completing her BA (Hons) in Interior Design Decoration.

Linden Homes, along with Bovis Homes and Countryside Homes, is part of Vistry Group. The award was launched in collaboration with the university nine years ago as a way of recognising excellent work by the interior design students.

As part of their final year major project, the students are asked to create an interior design scheme and are given free rein to choose the setting whether that is residential, hospitality or commercial.

Vistry Southern chose the winner. Melanie Richards, regional sales and marketing director for Vistry Southern, said: “I loved Isabelle’s subtle colour palette and the beautiful choice of materials that she included in her project.

While Isabelle’s scheme was for a health club, I could really see that the scheme as a whole and her ideas and choices would also work beautifully in a showhome setting.

“Her references through the scheme to her inspiration of the Amazon was sophisticated and clear without being obvious. She has clearly put in a huge amount of time and effort into this project.”

Course Leader Lydia Southwell said: “We are extremely grateful for Linden Homes’ continued support and appreciate Lucinda's time and commitment in awarding a prize to a final year student on behalf of Vistry Group.

“It is exciting for the students to have their work viewed by industry and adds gravitas to the student experience as they embark on a career in the industry.”

Isabelle’s project was a health club, and she created a range of designs in soft, warm tones for different zones including a reception, lounge, pool area, locker room, outdoor terrace, and study hub. She took inspiration from the Amazon for her ideas.

She received a £100 One4All gift voucher as part of her prize.

Vistry Southern is building new homes in the Southampton area, at Whiteley Meadows under the Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Countryside Homes brands.

Melanie said: “Our ongoing links with Solent University are important to us as we are keen to nurture and encourage new talent.

“It is fitting that we support interior design students as their area of expertise fits very much with our work. Creating smart and inspiring interiors for our showhomes and sales centres is an essential part of the process of building and promoting a new development.
