Wimborne Care Home on Hayling Island is known as a fun and active care home ‘with a lot going on’ but a recent anniversary means it is also a long serving Barchester care home..

As a Barchester home Wimborne welcomed its first resident on 31st December 1997 so 2026 is its 29th year of operation. In fact, Wimborne has a far longer heritage than that, it’s been a home filled with love and support since well before then, but has grown and developed further under the Barchester umbrella

Wimborne is well known locally for it’s warmest of welcomes, it is much beloved by the Hayling Community and prides itself on offering a family feel home, closely connected with and tied to Hayling Islanders. It employs all its staff directly, not using any agency staff – a very unusual feature in care and one that Wimborne knows to be best for their residents. This ensures that there is familiarity and continuity, that staff are all trained to a high standard and know residents well and are known by them which is key to continuity of excellence in care.

Never a home to sit on its laurels or stand still there is always a full agenda of activities and opportunities, led by an exceptional Senior Activities Lead Zoe Freeman. If you’d like to learn more about Wimborne, located on Selsmore Road in Mengham, Hayling, they have an Open Day on Saturday 24th January, offering showrounds between 10 and 4pm. Visitors are invited to pop in and chat to the team, bookings can be made by calling 02392 467369.

Stephen Space, Peri General Manager of Wimborne commented: ‘!’m delighted to be sharing the achievements of Wimborne in reaching their 29th year. It is a charming, warm and friendly home and I’d encourage anyone to visit us on our Open Day on 24th January.’

Wimborne care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Wimborne provides residential and dementia care for 47 residents from respite care to long term stays.
