Hampshire housebuilder launches Christmas toy appeal

A Hampshire housebuilder is seeking donations for a toy appeal and has opened up drop off points at its show homes this week.
Leading housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division, is supporting this year’s Toy Appeal in partnership with the Parenting Network at its developments across Hampshire to help ensure that all children across the county and beyond have presents to open on Christmas morning.
The Toy Appeal was founded by Dee and Chris Drake in 2013 to help provide Christmas toys to children from two to 17 years old who are living in poverty. Parents and carers can then choose from the selection of toys on offer and have them gift wrapped ready for their child to open on Christmas Day.
Social workers, schools, women’s refuges, food banks and drop-in centres can refer a child or family to The Toy Appeal, and thanks to supporters’ generous donations, each child will receive a main present together with a stocking filler, like a board game or puzzle, an arts and crafts item, soft toy, ball or sports item and two books.
Megan Hamlyn, Marketing Manager at Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the toy appeal for another year. It’s such a great campaign and we’ve seen for ourselves how it can really make a difference to people in the community.
“We would love it if everyone added just one extra toy, game or book to their shopping basket while doing their Christmas shopping. Then simply bring it unwrapped to one of our developments and drop it off at the show home. That way, we can help ensure every child has something to open on Christmas morning.”
