Gosport crafter recognised in Best Independent Business awards

Gosport artisan and small business owner Sarah Cawte, of Flamin’ Good Crafts in Stoke Road, has been recognised in the 2026 Gosport’s Best Independent Business awards, celebrating the town’s most loved local traders.
Flamin’ Good Crafts received a commendation award in the competition, which saw 78 independent businesses from across the borough nominated by local residents.
Sarah, who runs Flamin’ Good Crafts at 85 Stoke Road, has built a reputation for her welcoming creative space offering craft workshops, social “make and chat” sessions and bespoke handmade items. From sewing and fabric upcycling to memory bears and keepsakes made from treasured clothing, her business focuses on helping people create personal, meaningful pieces while enjoying time together in a friendly environment.
The Gosport’s Best Independent Business awards are organised by Gosport Borough Council to highlight and promote the town’s independent retailers, cafés, salons and creative studios. Shoppers are invited to vote for their favourite local businesses, with short‑listed traders attending an awards event at Gosport Town Hall, where winners and commended businesses are announced.
Reacting to the news of her commendation, Sarah said she felt proud and humbled that so many customers had taken the time to vote. She added that recognition in the awards is particularly special because it reflects the local community's support and the value people place on Gosport’s small, independent shops.
Flamin’ Good Crafts’ success is another positive story for Stoke Road, which has seen a growing mix of independent businesses and community‑focused projects in recent years. Sarah continues to collaborate with local groups and events, promoting the benefits of crafting for wellbeing and encouraging residents of all ages and abilities to “have a go” at something new.
