Fareham Bowling Club hands over £1260.68 to Greyhound Trust Portsmouth
Brian Shakespeare, club president for 2025 handed over cash raised by members for his chosen charity The Greyhound Trust Portsmouth.
The charity has been going for more than 50 years run by family members now in its fourth generation. It strives to take care of and re-home retired Greyhounds.
Chris Redpath, the grandson of the original founder of the charity Greyhound Trust Portsmouth and his daughter Katie were there to oversee the count, which totalled £1260.68.
Chris said: “This is an unbelievable amount of money raised by members of Fareham Bowling Club, without whom we would not be able to continue to re-home these beautiful animals. We thank you all very much for your support and commitment.

“With rising costs of keeping these dogs until finding their forever homes, every penny counts.”
Brian’s choice of charity is very close to his heart as he and his wife Gina adopted ‘Fletch’ a retired Greyhound at just three years old in 2022.
Brian said: “We are delighted to be able to help support such a worthy cause, Fletch is a very much loved member of our family and is thoroughly enjoying his retirement!"
As part of Brian’s closing duties he led a minute silence to remember those past members no longer with us who are greatly missed. Club members joined together for its ‘Memorial Trophy’ game to conclude the end of a very successful season.
Trophy Winner: Paschal Powell.
