Duo of Portsmouth charities receives donations from charitable foundation

Two Portsmouth charities have received donations from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation after being nominated by colleagues from the local Portsmouth branch.

EC Roberts Centre, a charity which works to improve the lives of children and families, received a £2,000 donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation to help it to continue to provide relief from child poverty and homelessness.

The charity helps people who are struggling to improve their family’s difficult circumstances whether from homelessness or family breakdown. It works with families, children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Tall Ships Youth Trust also received a £1,000 donation. Tall Ships is the UK’s oldest and largest youth development sail training charity, which enables young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to experience activities at sea and contribute to the maritime sector. The charity brings together crews of different social backgrounds and nationalities to promote understanding, teamwork and friendship onboard.

“It is also fantastic that we are able to support Tall Ships Youth Trust. The work that they do to support young people in the Portsmouth area makes a huge difference in the local community.”

Nicky Clarke, Finance Officer at EC Roberts Centre said: “We are really grateful for the donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation that will help us continue to provide our services.”
