Denmead care home celebrates Chinese New Year

This beautiful ‘care home in the woods’ is known to offer a wide range of interesting and engaging activities, a superb array of delicious and tempting culinary delights and great companionship amongst residents and staff.

They feel it is just wonderful to have such a variety of activities to enjoy with their residents. From food demonstrations, to sampling, to quizzes and laughter over fortune cookies it has been a fun and food filled day, with smiles everywhere and an abundance of enjoyment. For Chinese New Year they decorated dining and lounge rooms and they looked absolutely stunning, adorned with bright lanterns, and festive displays that really captured the spirit of the New Year. It created a warm and joyful atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

One of the chef team is Klev, he hails from the Philipines, and ran a master class in making and rolling spring rolls. Despite everyone sampling their lunch options of 2 starters, 2 mains and choice of puddings somehow there was still space for a spring roll or 2 and those freshly prepared light bites went down a treat. Enjoyed alongside bubble tea and sweet snacks it was a food-filling day!

Staff and residents really enjoyed taking part in this Chinese food and drink tasting session, sampling the variety of delicious flavours and learning a little about the traditions behind them. It was the perfect way to mark the occasion.

General Manager Abbie Johnston said: ‘Every day we aim to make a positive difference for our residents and our residents are really telling us just how much pleasure they have had today.’
