Community spirit shines at the fourth Emsworth Eco Fair by Caroline Fisk

The fourth Emsworth Eco Fair took place on Saturday, October 25 bringing together local environmental groups, families and visitors for a morning of activities, stalls and refreshments across both Emsworth Sailing Club and Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club.
The Eco Fair grew from an idea developed by Clare Mogridge whose wish was to create a community space that celebrates local environmental action. Her vision shaped the first fair and continues to guide its growth, “We wanted to provide a space where our local environmental heroes could come together and showcase the fabulous work that they do raising awareness and enabling others to get involved.”
This year’s fair saw record participation, with 18 stalls including Chichester Harbour Conservancy, Bird Aware Solent, Harbour Oysters and the Final Straw Foundation.
Councillor Grainne Raison, Havant Borough Council Cabinet Lead for Climate Emergency, Environment and Water Quality, said,“I was delighted to visit the Emsworth Eco Fair and I congratulate all the organisers on a highly successful event. The contributors made this an engaging, informative and inspiring occasion.

"There was a great sense of positivity and ambition for a whole range of projects on climate and the environment. The many attendees found much to inspire them to become involved in local activities.”
