A charity pub quiz held at The Talisman in Park Gate has raised more than £1,000 for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

The event was organised by Foreman Homes, one of the South’s leading independent housebuilders, as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting local causes and community wellbeing and drew a bumper turnout of staff, supporters and local partners.

The venue was packed on Friday night as teams gathered for an evening of trivia, friendly competition and fundraising. The quiz was hosted by Pete, a familiar face among Foreman Homes staff and regular quizmaster for the company’s charity events.

After several close rounds, the top spot was claimed by Foreman Homes’ own Commercial department, known on the night as Chelsey’s Angels. The team edged ahead in the final round, securing victory and no doubt earning bragging rights back at the office.

The evening also featured a popular raffle, which played a key role in boosting the fundraising total. Local businesses including Aeropark Developments, TDL Contractors Ltd, AFC Portchester, Sydenhams Timber Merchants and Travis Perkins generously donated prizes. Their support was widely acknowledged on the night and contributed significantly to the final amount raised.

The event raised a final total of £1,067 which will go directly to Sands, a national charity that supports families affected by the death of a baby. Sands provides bereavement services, specialist resources, a dedicated helpline and local support groups. The charity also plays a vital role in research and campaigning to reduce pregnancy and baby loss, working closely with healthcare professionals across the UK.

A spokesperson from Foreman Homes said: "We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who turned out for the quiz and showed such generosity. The support from our team and local partners was fantastic, and we’re proud to contribute to the work Sands does for families during the most difficult of times.”

The event formed part of Foreman Homes’ wider fundraising efforts for 2025, with Sands chosen as their Charity of the Year. Staff across the business have taken part in various initiatives, from sponsored challenges to in-house fundraising days, with the final annual total due to be announced next month.

With the year drawing to a close, the quiz marked one of the last major fundraising events in the calendar but Foreman Homes are optimistic that the strong turnout and impressive total will help raise awareness of Sands’ ongoing work and encourage continued support across the local community.

Founded in Hampshire, Foreman Homes has grown into one of the region’s most established and respected housebuilders, known for delivering high-quality new homes across the South. Alongside their development work, the company maintains a strong focus on community involvement, supporting charities and local projects throughout the year.
