Care home launches cognitive stimulation therapy sessions to support brain health and wellbeing
Bere Grove Care Home, Gales Rise, Horndean is proud to offer monthly Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) sessions in partnership with Recapture Life, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the quality of life, independence, and wellbeing of those living with memory loss and cognitive decline.
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy is a structured, evidence-based programme designed to actively engage the brain through themed activities, group discussions, word games, problem-solving tasks, and reminiscence. Widely recommended by health professionals, researched and evidence based in N.I.C.E. CST has been shown to support memory, communication skills, confidence, and social connection, particularly for people living with dementia.
The monthly sessions held at Bere Grove Care Home, delivery by Recapture Life founded by Lesley and Katie are delivered in a friendly, supportive group environment, encouraging attendees to take part at their own pace while enjoying meaningful interaction with others. The ‘Groovy Grover’s’ as they affectionately call themselves enjoy activities tailored to the attendees’ abilities and interests, ensuring they are both stimulating and enjoyable. Lesley has had experience with dementia both professionally and personally and in a number of different settings.
