Bash Is Back! Conkers Fly in Baffins in Tribute to 'Simply The Best' Founder

The spirit of community champion George Benham will soar at the weekend as the beloved 'George Benham Memorial Conker Bash' makes its jubilant return to the Baffins Pond Association (BPA).
Families are invited to swap their screens for strings on Saturday 11th October for a day of traditional fun, fierce but friendly competition, and community togetherness, celebrating the legacy of the BPA's founder.
George Benham, who established the Baffins Pond Association over 30 years ago, was instrumental in transforming the area from a "sorry state" into the picturesque community hub it is today, securing the buildings that now house the Benham-Rew Environmental Study Centre.
While the BPA is dedicated to looking after the pond and the surrounding environment, those close to George say the Conker Bash held a special place in his heart.

He was passionate about "retaining the old fashioned game loved by many generations for all the community to enjoy."
The event, which promises a fun time for young and old alike, will be safely marshalled to ensure fair play, and plenty of food and refreshments will be available.
George's niece, Sophia Benham, shared her enthusiasm for the memorial event: “My late uncle George would love to know his memory lives on with the yearly Baffins Pond Association conker bash, where children come together to play a traditional game—whilst also getting them off technology.”
She added that George was simply "the best."
So, ditch the devices and head down to Baffins Pond next weekend to knock lumps out of some chestnuts and honour a true local legend!
