Andrew Phipps and Leigh Rowsell, who run the firm, said they have received support from category sponsor the University of Portsmouth's Business School, plus they have used the honour to gain new clients.

Owner Andrew said: '˜We won because we have a great team spirit here at Pearl Fit-Out, the staff members are great. We also use local labour and local supply chain.

'˜When you see smaller Portsmouth companies working with prestigious clients like Harrods or Harvey Nichols, it raises recognition.

'˜Since we won the award, we have done more local jobs in a year than since we started trading, it's really raised our local profile.'
