Expanded Shell petrol station in Wickham reopens to the public following refurbishment with new Co-Op store
A frequently used petrol station has reopened after being refurbished.
The Shell facility in Fareham Road, Wickham, has reopened and is welcoming the public once again. This major overhaul was completed after Winchester City Council gave the go-ahead for the works in July 2024.

The forecourt of the petrol station has been expanded, with the existing sale building and workshop being demolished. A Co-Op shop has opened its doors in the sale building, with the Wickham site also boasting expanding car parking and an electric vehicle charging hub.
The work to transform the site began on July 20, 2025. As well as the shop being three times the size of the original, the facility also boasts an ATM and toilets.
Shell UK said the redevelopment of the site was necessary to bring it up to modern standards. The site’s garage was removed, with Shell stating in planning documents that this was to reduce disruption for neighbouring homes.
