"We’d love your support" - New independent pound shop to open in Gosport
A Gosport man is opening a new pound store after spotting a gap in he market following the closure of Poundland.
Alan Ahmad, 42, of Gosport, is currently renovating 32b Forton Road with the hopes of opening Pound Plus in the next few weeks. Having run a barbershop in the town for the past five years, he had to give it up due to health reasons before exploring options where he didn't have to be on his feet all day.

Alan announced the new business via Pound Plus’s social media page. A post said: “We are excited to announce that Pound Plus is coming to 32B Forton Road! Work is officially underway to transform the shop and get the shelves ready for our grand opening in three to four weeks. As a new independent local business, we’d love your support!”
The new store will stock a wide range of products from home and household goods to pet and garden, as well as stationary, baby care, garden products and much more.
An opening date has not yet been confirmed but is expected to be in mid to late April.
