A popular Hampshire pub is facing up to eight weeks of closure as it sets about rebuilding after a fire.
In a social media post, the owner has confirmed that it will not be open for six to eight weeks as the damage is repaired.
The post said: “The reality is that there’s so much to do after a disaster like this. Every day has been filled with insurance assessments, meetings, paperwork and planning as we begin the long road to reopening.
“When something like this happens, it doesn’t just affect one business. It affects our amazing staff, our suppliers, neighbouring businesses and our whole community.
“Our insurance assessor has now inspected the damage and, at this stage, we expect to remain closed for the next 6–8 weeks while we rebuild . It’s heart-breaking to miss our busiest time of the year, but we’re determined to rebuild.”
The owners thanked Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue service for their help and the local businesses who have rallied round to support them since the fire took place.
The post continued: “To everyone who has sent messages, offered help, or simply checked in on us thank you. Your support has reminded us just how lucky we are to be part of such an incredible community.
“We’ll keep you updated along the way, and we can’t wait to welcome you back.”
The fire service have confirmed that they believe the fire was accidental while no exact cause has been identified.
