Public asked to comment on Southsea Post Office relocation
A POST Office is proposing to relocate.
Postmaster Pranay Patel of Southsea Post Office plans to transfer his business from 94-96 Palmerston Road, to 73 Palmerston Road.
The new premises are empty and would undergo a refurbishment and change to one of the new main style Post Office branches.
Post Office services would be delivered from two modern serving positions – one full-screened and one open-plan. Opening hours would be Monday to Saturday, from 9am–5.30pm. This means there would be an extra 3.5 hours a week of service, including Saturday afternoon, for the convenience of customers.
Suzanne Richardson, regional network manager for the Post Office, said: ‘We are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.
‘This modernisation is part of a major investment programme and will secure future services.’
The Post Office is inviting interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation. During this time, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal. The consultation will close on June 2.
