Powder Monkey Brewing Co continues major international expansion with new Australian brewery and taproom

Major expansion plans are on the cards at a Gosport-based brewing company as it readies to open a brewery in Australia.

Powder Monkey Brewing Co, which opened its brewery and taproom in Priddy’s Hard in 2021, is continuing its international expansion with a new site in Camden, Australia.

The new brewery and taproom will become the group’s Australian “spiritual home”, bringing brewing and hospitality together under one roof while handling approximately 20 per cent of its Australian production.

Andy Burdon, CEO of Powder Monkey Brewery, said: “This is a major milestone for the Powder Monkey Group. Camden will become our spiritual home in Australia — a place where we can bring production and hospitality together and create something truly special for the local community.

“Not only will the site significantly strengthen our production capability, it will also give us a destination venue that reflects our long-term commitment to the Australian market.”

The new venue is designed to operate as both a working production facility and a destination taproom, with steelwork and scaffolding still in place as construction well underway.

The development follows the group’s 2025 acquisitions of Akasha Brewing Company and Wayward Brewing Co., adding to its existing Australian breweries Willie the Boatman and Southern Highlands Brewing.

An opening date for the latest Australian site has yet to be confirmed.
