Portsmouth IT firm easyNetworks connects Covid vaccination centres across the county

COVID vaccination centres across the county have been quickly connected to reliable computer networks thanks to a Portsmouth firm.

The cabling division of easyNetworks has been working flat out to install network hardware to connect systems at key NHS sites in recent weeks.

The IT and telecoms business provides a specialist cabling service to customers such as Solent NHS Trust, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and care home operator Sentinel Health Care.

This connectivity helps them to deliver essential medical facilities.

Recently it has connected Covid-19 vaccination centres at St James Hospital in Portsmouth, University Health Centre, Southampton and Basingstoke Fire Station, as well as installing networks at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Managing director Richard Gwilliam said: ‘I am delighted that our cabling teams have been able to respond to the demands of our NHS and care home customers during the pandemic.

‘Reliable computer networks are a core part of any medical site and installing them promptly but safely has been a major priority for our customers.

‘We partner with NHS trusts at a high level and understand their specific requirements, and we're particularly proud of the work we have done at the vaccination centres to help get them open to the public in a very short time.

‘As a business, one of our core values is to make a difference and we're happy to be doing exactly that for NHS patients and care home residents throughout the region.’

Mark Young, associate director of estates transformation at Solent NHS Trust, thanked the firm for its efforts.

He said: ‘Thank you to the team for its outstanding support.

‘The work to support the conversion of buildings to create vaccination centres has played a critical part in ensuring these buildings are open, operational and delivering much anticipated vaccine to the population as quickly as possible.’ easyNetworks, in Kirpal Road, was set up by entrepreneur Richard Gwilliam in 1995. Originally called Easy Networks, it changed its name in 2019 when it was taken on by easyJet founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and became part of his family of brands.

As well as supplying the medical sector throughout Hampshire, easyNetworks works in the education sector including St Edmund's Catholic School, Portsmouth, Fareham College and the University of Portsmouth, and also to food businesses such as Vitacress Salads in Andover, and to major infrastructure such as Portsmouth International Port and the D-Day Story visitor attraction on Southsea seafront.
