Parkers DIY celebrates 80th birthday as family-run business thanks loyal customers
Dedication and hard work helps small business last the test of time
A family-run business which has stores across Hampshire celebrated its 80th anniversary as it thanked its loyal customers.
The business is run by Roy Parker but it all started in 1946 when his mum Eileen Tribbeck opened Stubbington Ironmongery & Hardware Store on Stubbington Green. When Roy took over the reigns he set about expanding the business adding the three new sites.

Eileen passed away earlier this year at the age of 96 but her legacy looks set to continue with Roy’s children now also involved in the business. Speaking from the Stubbington shop, Jack Parker said he was hoping to take over from his father in the future.
Commenting on reaching the landmark, he said: “It is a privilege. We are very grateful for our loyal customers over the years and we are looking forward to many more to come.”
Jack put the longevity of the business down to the “hard work” and “dedication” that has been put into the shop for the past eight decades.
The occasion was marked with a number of 80th birthday branded bags and pens, while a number of suppliers donated items for 80 goodie bags with 20 of them being handed out to the first 20 customers at each branch. Any customer who spent over £20 on the day was also entered into a draw to win an £80 voucher.
Ahead of the anniversary celebrations a Parkers DIY statement said: “The world has changed drastically since our post war beginning but our dedication to excellence and customer satisfaction has not. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers past and present and to our hardworking staff who have helped to reach this incredible milestone.”
