"We go again": Excitement as opening date for second Hoggies Hog Roast venue revealed

Following the roaring success of Hoggies Hog Roast, in Marmion Road, Southsea, which opened in September last year, a trio of friends have confirmed they will be launching a new site.

Owners, Mark Legg, Lewis Filer and Simon Hartnett opened their Southsea 30-seater venue after dreaming of combining their passion for food and community to create a thriving business.

At the end of last year, the friends started looking for a new venue, where they came across Steak and Roast, in Drayton, and decided to take on the building, with refurbishment work starting earlier this year.

The location was initially kept a secret, but the team have been sharing updates ahead of the opening.

On January 3, the friends took to social media to announce the new venue’s opening date, saying: “We Go AGAIN. We’re excited to announce that our Drayton Restaurant will be opening its doors on Monday 9th March 2026.

“We’ve been building something special behind-the-scenes and getting ready to give Drayton a taste of our current favorites, plus new additions to our evening menu.

“Same Passion. New Chapter. Different Venue.We can’t wait to welcome you in.”

The Drayton Hoggies will continue to offer its popular dishes including burrito bowls and hog roast rolls, while also opening as an evening food spot with a twist on the food offerings.

In a previous interview, the friends said: “Opening a second Hoggies site was always something that was spoken about before even opening the first.

“As we were bringing something new to the Portsmouth eatery scene, we were always hoping and expecting the concept to do well, but its exceeded all expectations.

“We have quickly become a popular eatery in the Southsea area and we are hoping the same energy transpires in our new location; we are sure it will.”
