'Join us for a few final pints': Fuller's pub The Bridge Tavern prepares to close next month for refurbishment
Pub closes next month
‘Exciting changes’ are in the pipeline at an Old Portsmouth pub as it prepares to close next month.
Fuller’s pub, The Bridge Tavern, has invited punters to indulge in one last pint before the venue closes on Monday, November 9 in anticipation of a two-week refurbishment.
The renovation comes after the business, which dates back to the 1730s, suffered a frightening fire that ripped through its outside decking area at the rear of the property in July.

Thanks to the quick response from the fire and rescue service, the blaze was contained and was brought under control promptly, avoiding damage to the pub’s main structure. Phone lines and internet cables were destroyed during the incident leaving the pub unable to accept any bookings while repairs were carried out.
Taking to social media this week, The Bridge Tavern said: “Join us for a final few pints, delicious food and good times before we close our doors on Monday 9th November for two weeks while we give the pub a fresh new look, with a few exciting changes along the way.
“So come down, raise a glass, make some memories and say goodbye to the old Bridge… because something new is on the way.
“Watch this space… we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve got planned.”
The waterside pub, in East Street, will reopen on Wednesday, November 25 with a “refreshed” and “revamped” vibe in time for the Christmas period.
