Mysterious 'international hotelier' buys historic Hampshire wedding venue Botleigh Grange

A POPULAR wedding venue has been sold to a mysterious international hotelier.

The 17th century Botleigh Grange, a 55-bedroom hotel and spa in Hedge End, closed after its owner, Botleigh Grange Limited, went into administration on January 13.

The hotel has now been bought by an ‘international hotelier,’ said the group that brokered the deal – Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group.

It comes after a number of parties were interested in buying the property, according to a spokesman from Leonard Curtis.

Neil Bennett, director at Leonard Curtis, said: ‘The property has attracted a high level of interest, as expected, and the buyer is an extremely experienced hotelier from overseas.

‘Botleigh Grange is currently being surveyed to establish the necessary work required before the hotel can be opened.’

The administrators said the venue had closed after ‘reporting on health and safety issues’ – with it receiving a one out of five food hygiene rating in November.

But the hotel’s management company, Addison Way, remained operating.

Guests remain in the dark and thousands of pounds out of pocket over their cancelled wedding plans.

Botleigh Grange, which has five function rooms, a restaurant, and a bar, remains closed.
