Leaves Builders expands in Portsmouth, hiring local talent

With a new seven-year agreement with Vivid Homes, the company is growing rapidly and seeking more local apprentices. Apprenticeships have already increased from five to nine, with more openings available.

Since 1978, Leaves Builders has been a cornerstone of Portsmouth’s construction scene, and as a third-generation family business, it remains deeply committed to the local community.
With more than 100 employees, the company is experiencing significant growth, thanks in part to a new seven-year agreement with Vivid Homes. Apprenticeships at Leaves have already increased from five to nine, with plans to bring more local talent on board.
Leaves Builders has been a family-owned business for three generations, with deep roots in Portsmouth. Over the years, the company has grown alongside the community, contributing to local projects and providing jobs to hundreds of people.
Now, with a new contract with Vivid Homes, the business is expanding further, creating more opportunities for local workers, especially apprentices.
“We’ve been part of the fabric of Portsmouth for over 40 years,” says Mr Bravington. “As a third-generation company, it’s incredibly important to us to continue supporting our local community. We’re proud of the work we’ve done, and even prouder to be able to offer more opportunities for young people to start their careers in construction.”
Thanks to the Vivid Homes partnership, Leaves Builders has seen a surge in apprenticeships, with the number rising from five to nine in just a short time. The company is now actively seeking more apprentices to join the team.
Mr Bravington explained: “Apprenticeships are vital to the long-term success of our business. We’re dedicated to investing in the next generation, giving them the skills and experience they need to succeed in the industry.”
