The additional crossings – originally scheduled to commence on Monday 6th April – will now start earlier than planned, giving customers greater flexibility during one of the busiest and most popular travel periods of the spring. The later flights include the 19:15 departure from Ryde and the 19:30 departure from Southsea, offering extended evening connectivity between the Isle of Wight and the mainland.
Easter is traditionally a fantastic time for trips across the Solent. As the weather begins to improve, it provides the perfect opportunity for family days out, coastal walks, visiting attractions, and enjoying everything the Isle of Wight and South Coast have to offer. By introducing these later crossings ahead of schedule, Hovertravel is helping customers make the most of lighter evenings and milder spring conditions.

The decision reflects increased forward bookings and customer feedback requesting later return options during the Easter break, when both leisure travel and visits to friends and family typically see a seasonal uplift.
Loretta Lale, head of marketing at Hovertravel, said: “We know how important flexibility is for our customers, particularly during school holidays and the Easter period. Easter is such a wonderful time to travel — the days are longer, the weather is often brighter, and people are keen to get out and explore after the winter months. Demand for later evening crossings has been especially strong this year, so we’re delighted to bring these flights forward to Saturday 28th March. By introducing the 19:15 from Ryde and the 19:30 from Southsea earlier than planned, we’re giving customers more choice and helping them make the most of their time on both sides of the Solent.”
The additional services are ideal for day-trippers wishing to extend their stay, commuters requiring later return options, and holidaymakers travelling to and from the Isle of Wight over the Easter break.
