'Heartfelt thank you' as well-established sandwich shop Andre's announces closure of one of its locations
The owner of one of the city’s oldest independent sandwich shops has thanked loyal customers for their support as he confirms the closure of one of its locations.
The business, which also has two other locations - one in Drayton and one in Southsea - was established in Osborne Road as La Crossanterie back in 1988 by husband and wife, Jean-Marie and Kathleen Guedeney, who brought a taste of France to the city.

The couple’s son, Andre, and his cousin, Antony, took over the business in 2015 where they initiated an expansion and rebrand to create a total of three trendy and up-to-date venues.
The Portsmouth site opened in 2018 and has been a popular fixture for the past eight years, but the sandwich shop took to social media on March 11, saying: “Our Charter House shop near the University will be closing on Friday 13th March as we reach the end of our lease and due to changing footfall in the area.
“The good news is that our two other local shops located in Osborne Road-Southsea, and Havant Road - Drayton remain open as usual from 8am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and are ready to welcome you and continue serving all your favourite tasty treats.
“We want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to all our amazing customers who have supported the Charter House shop over the years. We would absolutely love to continue serving you at our Southsea and Drayton shops and look forward to welcoming you soon.”
