Havant business built on community is asking for support when it matters most

Founded by Claire, Claire's Floristry & Tea Room started simply, rooted in a love of floristry and the desire to create something meaningful and personal.

In its earliest days, the focus was on carefully crafted floral designs, created with attention, care and a strong belief that flowers should reflect the people and moments they represent.

What began as a personal passion has grown into one of Havant's most distinctive community-focused spaces — a place where flowers, food and friendship come together under one roof.

As time went on, the business began to evolve. The space grew into more than a florist, gradually becoming a welcoming environment where people could stay, talk and connect. The addition of a tea room transformed it into a hub for the local community in Bedhampton and surrounding areas — a place to meet friends, enjoy good food and drink, and feel at home.

Today, Claire's Floristry & Tea Room is known not only for its bespoke floristry but also for its atmosphere. It has built a strong reputation locally, holding a five-star rating and welcoming customers of all ages. With a licensed bar in place, it offers a relaxed setting where visitors can enjoy everything from a simple coffee to a celebratory drink.

The space is also available for private hire and has become a popular choice for small events, workshops and gatherings. From creative sessions to social occasions, it offers something a little different — a setting that feels personal, warm and community-led rather than corporate.

Behind the scenes, however, running an independent business is increasingly challenging. Rising costs and quieter trading periods have placed pressure on many small, locally owned spaces, and this one is no exception.

Claire continues to run the business with dedication, managing every aspect herself — from floral design and event planning to day-to-day operations. Despite the challenges, her enjoyment of the work remains clear, driven by the relationships built and the role the space plays in local life.

Now, more than ever, that local support is vital.

“This business exists because of the community,” Claire says. “But we need that support now more than ever. Without it, spaces like this simply cannot survive.”

The message is a simple one: supporting local does make a difference. Choosing to visit, hire the space, attend an event or recommend it to others helps ensure that community-led businesses can continue to thrive.

As villages and towns change, places like this provide more than a service — they offer connection, creativity and a sense of belonging. And with continued support, Claire hopes this space can remain at the heart of the community for many years to come.
