Matthew’s Greengrocer in Forton Road will close its doors for the final time on February 28 after over nine years' trade.

In a social media post, business owner Matthew Grubb said he was closing due to “ever increasing cost and fees and decreasing number of customers in store”.

The post said: “I have had the most amazing members of staff and will be very sad to see them go. It has been a very interesting nine years working through covid, that was not easy, and all the ups and downs we have had on the way.

“It has been a pleasure serving you, and we are deeply grateful for the loyal customers that are still shopping with us. I’m very sad to have to tell you this news. We will still be delivering as normal up until we close subject to stock levels.

“If you have any questions please feel free to contact us through message or call us on 02392528806, we will be happy to help.

“We truly appreciate your custom and look forward to seeing you throughout this final month. Thank you for being part of this journey.”
